La KOSHIA R. ROBERTS

Since 1999, Attorney La Koshia R. Roberts has been committed to excellence in the law, first as a judicial law clerk and then as a practicing attorney with state, federal and bankruptcy court experience. 

 

As a law student at the Southern University Law Center, La Koshia was a member of the Moot Court Board and was recognized by Who's Who Among American Law Schools.

La Koshia's experience includes respected service as attorney/counsel for the State of Louisiana, municipalities, towns and a parish.  She also has experience in bankruptcy and banking and in representing clients in personal injury, healthcare, workers' compensation, government law, civil rights, property/real estate law, Medicare, medical malpractice, construction law, contract law, contract negotiations, estate planning, wills and successions. 

 

La Koshia is also a Louisiana notary.

In 2006, La Koshia was named Young Lawyer of the Year by the Fourth Judicial District Bar.  She is a former member and chair of multiple Attorney Disciplinary Hearing Committees of the Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board.  She is also a former member of the Louisiana Lottery Corporation's Board of Directors.

La Koshia is the creator of the book/manual and Court Bingo game used by Louisiana district court judges for the Louisiana "Judges in the Classroom" program.

​

Since 2018, La Koshia has been a member of the Louisiana Board of Ethics and the Supervisory Committee on Campaign Finance.   She is also an immediate past member and vice chair of the Southwest Louisiana Law Center's Board of Directors. 

​

La Koshia is a member of the Zeta Psi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the Southern University Lake Charles Alumni Chapter, where she serves as Parliamentarian, the Lake Charles Junior League and Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, where she serves as third vice president of the Women's Mission Union and as a teacher in the Children's Church. She is also a charter member of the National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, D.C. She is also a member of the National Council of Negro Women, Inc.

La Koshia graduated from Southern University (Baton Rouge), earning a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education (English) and a Master of Education (Administration/Supervision).  She also graduated from the Southern University Law Center with a Juris Doctor.  La Koshia also graduated from the Harvard University John F. Kennedy School of Government’s Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program.

La Koshia is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, and she is admitted to practice in the Western, Middle and Eastern Districts of the United States District Courts of Louisiana.  She is also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.
